How It Started, the Short Version

Pink Floyd/Frank Zappa - Interstellar Zappadrive
Many years ago--1977, I believe it was--I stumbled upon a new hobby. It rapidly became an obsession. Bootlegs, they called 'em. I started with Beatles recordings. Even in the '70s, those of us "in the know" discovered that The Beatles recorded a whole bunch of stuff they hadn't seen fit to release. And for those of us who were musically insatiable, the legitimate catalog wasn't enough. Yes, we saved our pennies and bought all of the legally-available releases, but our hunger was not filled. We wanted more. So we visited record stores of dubious repute, and rifled through the stacks in search of that which was both familiar and unfamilar at the same time.
Fast forward more than three decades. If I had amassed a collection of bootlegs--and please note that I certainly won't go on record that I have--perhaps I'd have several thousand of the things. And if I did, maybe I'd get a gig in a national music magazine (that much is public record; you could look it up, as the wise man said) wherein I could share some of the stories behind the stories, and review this elusive audio material for those so inclined.
Welcome to Bill Kopp's Bootleg Bin.
...oh: and it should go without saying (though it never seems to) that NONE of the unreleased / unauthorized / unofficial / bootleg / ROIO titles referenced in this section is for sale. Not at any price. Don't ask, okay?
